Statistics: Russia’s deflation at 0.1% in Aug 1–Monday
MOSCOW, Aug 9 (PRIME) -- Russian consumer prices fell 0.1% for a second week in a row from August 1 through Monday, while inflation has amounted to 2.3% since January 1, the Federal State Statistics Service said Wednesday.
Prices for fruit and vegetables dropped 3.9% on average in the reported week. Cabbage prices fell 12.1%, and prices for potatoes, onions, carrots, tomatoes, and cucumbers fell 4.9–7.5%.
Egg prices decreased by 0.9%, while buckwheat and millet became 0.5% and 0.2% cheaper, respectively. But prices for beef, lamb meat, sausages, canned meat, frozen fish, butter, sunflower oil, bread, sugar, and salt rose 0.1–0.2%.
Gasoline and diesel fuel prices remained almost flat.
